About the formula

Description

Is a very fresh, creamy, almondy, and green. Syringa is derived from Greek which is a type of flute as they thought the shoots from the bush looked like hollow tubes and were perfect for this. It is widely celebrated for its medicinal properties and its of course beautiful flowers and intoxicating scent. Many find this fragrance nostalgic as it was very popular to be grown in back yards and homes dating back to the 18th century when they were introduced from Eastern Europe to the United States. The wood from the shrubs are also used to make many things like knife handles and musical instruments. Thomas Jefferson even loved Lilacs and wrote about them! In perfumery, lilac is typically interpreted as a powdery and jasmine like note. With green or honey facets. It was one of the first perfume notes recreated by early perfumers as there weren’t any essential oils or absolutes of lilac. There still is not much natural sources for lilac (I’ve only really found a C02 extract). So like many florals, it had to be recreated synthetically. There are many interpretations that can be made with Lilac and can be more powdery, more vanilla and almondy, greener, more floral and bouquet. There is another material you can utilize in this accord called “Syringa Aldehyde” or “Lilac Acetaldehyde”. But I am waiting to get my hands on this material. What is your favorite Lilac fragrance? Or what do you think would pair nicely with this aroma?
